  • Born and raised in Kansas City, Mo.
  • Attended Ruskin High School, where he was named to the Class 5 All-State second team.
  • Led Ruskin to its first win in the state playoffs since 1991, with a 20-14 win over Raytown.
  • Earned third-team all-state honors as a junior and was a three-year starter for the Golden Eagles.
  • Participated in wrestling, where he was a state qualifier and an all-district selection and marched in the band.
