Biography
CAREER
- Appeared in two games for the Green Bay Packers in 2022 prior to being signed by the Falcons.
- Registered one special teams tackle with the Packers against the Chicago Bears in Week 13 of this season.
- Has also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts.
COLLEGE
- Appeared in 44 games (30 starts) over four seasons (2015-2018) at the University of Tennessee.
- Recorded 197 total tackles (128 solo), 11 passes defensed, seven tackles for loss, five fumble recoveries and two interceptions for the Volunteers.
- As a senior in 2018, Abernathy started all eight games registering 38 total tackles (22 solo), three tackles for loss, one pass deflection and one fumble recovery despite missing four games.
- Played in all 12 games (12 starts) as a junior in 2017 and finished with a career-high 81 total tackles (47 solo), two passes defensed, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery. His 81 tackles on the season were the third-most on the team.
- In 2016, he appeared in 12 games (10 starts) and recorded 69 total tackles (52 solo), six passes defenses, three tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries and a career-high two interceptions. His six passes defensed and two interceptions both tied for a team best.
- Named SEC Defensive Player of the Week in 2016 for his performance against Virginia Tech (9/16) after recording three solo tackles and setting a new program record with three fumble recoveries.
