Julio Jones said he plans on playing in Atlanta's season-opener on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
Following practice on Thursday, Jones said all he is concerned about right now is "being ready to go" when his number is called.
The Falcons' star wide receiver and the team have reportedly been "close" to a new deal for a while now. Falcons owner Arthur Blank told Jeff Schultz of The Athletic the sides are "very, very close" and he would be "surprised and disappointed" if an extension is not done this week.
Jones is heading into his ninth season and is coming off a year in which he caught 113 passes for 1,677 yards and eight touchdowns.
