Atlanta's decision comes two days before the start of the NFL's free agency period, which kicks off on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET. Sambrailo, 28, joined the Falcons at the start of the 2017 season after Atlanta sent a fifth-round draft pick to the Denver Broncos to acquire him. Sambrailo appeared in 44 games during his three seasons with the Falcons, including 13 in 2019, and made six starts.

Sambrailo's biggest highlight in Atlanta came in his final game. Early in the first quarter of the Falcons' 28-22 victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17 of the 2019 season, Sambrailo caught a 35-yard touchdown pass to give Atlanta an early lead.

The Falcons signed Sambrailo to a three-year extension after the 2018 season expecting him to compete for a spot on the line during training camp and the preseason. Rookies Kaleb McGary and Chris Lindstrom earned the starting jobs at right tackle and right guard, respectively, leaving Sambrailo to occupy a reserve role.
