The Atlanta Falcons announced that they are partnering with FOX 5 Atlanta (WAGA-TV) to be the team's new local television broadcast partner beginning in March of 2020. The station will serve as the official local TV home of the Falcons and become additional storytellers for the Falcons brand.
Programming will include not only Falcons' four preseason games and two hours of additional sports programming each week throughout the season, but also feature long-form pieces on the team off the field.
The new partnership offers both organizations the opportunity to broaden their reach in the Atlanta market, sharing great stories of sports, human interest and community outreach.
"This partnership allows both organizations to tell stories at a higher level and brings more and more fans closer to Atlanta’s team. The possibilities are endless and we couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity.” – Rich McKay, Falcons team president
The award-winning FOX 5 sports team will gain exclusive access to the Falcons giving fans an inside look and thoughtful analysis leading up to and throughout the season. Additionally, FOX 5 will showcase the Falcons off the field with in-depth, human-interest storytelling, bringing Falcons fans even closer to the team they love.
Falcons fans will enjoy the familiar look, feel and network quality of regular-season broadcasts brought to the preseason, as FOX 5 Atlanta will now serve as the home for the majority of the club's 20 games across preseason and the regular season.
"We are really excited about this new partnership," Atlanta Falcons president Rich McKay said. "The Atlanta Falcons and FOX 5 are both ingrained in the city of Atlanta and have a common goal of bringing people together. This partnership allows both organizations to tell stories at a higher level and brings more and more fans closer to Atlanta's team. The possibilities are endless and we couldn't be more excited for this opportunity."
In addition to the Falcons preseason and regular season games, FOX 5 Atlanta will air three Falcons specific shows each week with two hours of programming spanning the entire weekend from Friday to Sunday.
"FOX 5 is proud to officially call ourselves the Home of the Atlanta Falcons," said Bill Schneider, vice president and general manager of WAGA-TV and FOX 5 Atlanta. "We are enthusiastic about this partnership and the opportunities to tell more compelling stories of a franchise that has brought Atlanta together for years."
