Eagles announce quarterback Nick Foles will start against the Falcons on Thursday night

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Eagles announced quarterback Nick Foles will start on Thursday night.

Philadelphia head coach Doug Pederson had said on Sunday that he didn’t want to publicly name who the starting quarterback would be as he felt it wouldn't be a competitive advantage for his team.

But on Monday, he made his decision public, announcing to Dave Spadaro of PhiladelphiaEagles.com that Foles would be the starter.

"We're ready to go with Nick," Pederson said to Spadaro.

Carson Wentz has not yet been cleared for contact yet after suffering a torn ACL in early December of 2017.

The Falcons have familiarity with Foles at quarterback. When the Falcons lost to the Eagles in the divisional round of the playoffs in January, Foles completed 23 of 30 passes and threw for 246 yards.
