FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons host the Detroit Lions on Friday inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium for their 2025 preseason game.
While Friday will mark the Falcons' first exhibition showing, the Lions played in the Hall of Fame game last Thursday in Canton, Ohio. Detroit lost, 34-7, to the Los Angeles Chargers at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
Atlanta head coach Raheem Morris has said neither starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. nor backup quarterback Kirk Cousins will play Friday. Rookies, however, will. That includes edge rusher Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr., who were the Falcons' first-round draft picks in April. So, there are potential first-team players looking to make their unofficial 2025 debut.
