Rookie LB Spruill Out for 2014 Season

Rookie linebacker Marquis Spruill received some bad news Thursday. After leaving the practice field Wednesday with a leg injury, it was determined that he had torn his ACL.

Head coach Mike Smith said Thursday that Spruill would miss the 2014 season and that the Falcons will be making a roster move in the near future.

Spruill was a fifth-round selection of the Falcons in May's NFL Draft, No. 168 overall. The Falcons traded up with Minnesota to select him. During his time at Syracuse, Spruill entered the record books with the second most tackles for loss in school history with 41. He was figuring to be used on special teams during his rookie season.
