Falcons injury report: Updates for Michael Penix Jr., Drake London as prep for Patriots begins

The Falcons were without Penix and London last Sunday in loss to Miami.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said Wednesday both QB Michael Penix Jr. (knee) and WR Drake London (hip) were in the building, in meetings, participating in team walkthroughs and the team's indoor practice. Morris said both are still considered day-to-day, but they are doing better — and feeling better — than they were last week. They were both listed as limited in the team's Wednesday report.

Morris added that he expects to see "more Michael" with the first-team offense this week in comparison to last week when QB Kirk Cousins took majority of those reps. In his Wednesday press conference Penix said he "felt good" at practice.

"I feel like I am trending in the right direction," Penix said.

Also limited were a handful of other starters including S Jessie Bates III (knee) and TE Kyle Pitts (ankle). For the first time in over two weeks, EDGE Jalon Walker (groin) and nickel Billy Bowman Jr. (hamstring) returned to practice. They both missed the team's last two games, while Bowman was ruled out of the game prior, too. Morris said Wednesday he expects to get both back soon.

Though Morris included DL Zach Harrison (knee) in that "day-to-day" category, Harrison did not participate in Wednesday's practice. Like Penix, London, Walker and Bowman, the Falcons were without Harrison Sunday, too — a presence the unit may have missed, particularly in run stopping.
