FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons officially placed rookie running back Ito Smith on injured reserve Tuesday and announced a number of other transactions.

In addition to placing Smith on IR, the Falcons promoted running back Jeremy Langford from the practice squad to their active roster. Langford played in 28 games for the Bears from 2015-16, gaining 737 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 210 carries. He also caught 41 passes for 421 yards and a score during that period.

The Falcons also waived wide receiver Julian Williams from their practice squad and signed receiver Christian Blake and offensive lineman Chris Durant to the practice squad.

Blake spent training camp with the Falcons and briefly spent time on their practice squad earlier in the season.
