FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons announced Wednesday morning that they've agreed to terms on a one-year deal with former Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin.
Irvin, 31, has a strong connection with Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, who served as the Seahawks' defensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014 before arriving in Atlanta. In his two seasons working with Quinn, Irvin recorded 88 tackles, 8.5 sacks, five pass defenses, three interceptions and two touchdowns.
Irvin was drafted by the Seahawks with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2012 draft. Following the 2015 season, Irvin signed with the Oakland Raiders, who waived the veteran linebacker on Monday. During his career in the NFL, Irvin has played in 98 games with 75 starts and registered 264 tackles, 40 sacks, 15 forced fumbles, 11 pass defenses and three interceptions.
