Coleman Sidelined, Freeman Impresses

The Falcons were back on the practice fields Wednesday morning after their first day off during 2015 XFINITY Atlanta Falcons Training Camp on Tuesday. The practice kept the quick pace that head coach Dan Quinn has set so far.

The battle at running back has been one of the main storylines of XFINITY® Training Camp thus far. The story continues to build as head coach Dan Quinn announced Wednesday after practice that Coleman is injured with a strained hamstring.

Freeman, a second-year back, showed his reliability as the speedster found the end zone a few times on a day the offense struggled in the red zone.

With Coleman out, rookie Terron Ward was given the chance to see more snaps. The undrafted Oregon State product showed he is ready and has impressed the coaching staff and his teammates with his attention to detail.

"When Tevin went down with his injury – and hopefully he will be back soon – next man up brings opportunity," Quinn said. "Sometimes that's when that opportunity takes place. (Ward) has always been a guy on the details and has received a lot of regard from the rest of his teammates because he is that detailed. Early as a young player that is how you get respect."
