FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons designated cornerback Clark Phillips III to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.
This move opens Phillips' 21-day window in which the Falcons need to either move him to the active roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve. Atlanta only has two games remaining on the schedule, which really means the team has until then to decide.
The Falcons originally placed Phillips on injured reserve back in Week 7 due to a triceps injury. He first appeared on an injury report in Week 6 and was inactive when the Falcons beat the Buffalo Bills. He did not practice at all in the aftermath because of the injury and an illness.
Phillips played in one game for the Falcons prior to going on injured reserve. He made one tackle in Atlanta’s Week 4 win against the Washington Commanders.
Phillips can now return to practice in Week 17 as the Falcons prepare to host the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
