FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Per an ESPN report, Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff has said the team will pick up former first-round pick Keanu Neal’s fifth-year option for the 2020 season.
Exercising Neal’s fifth-year option will guarantee the Falcons the strong safety under contract for the 2020 season.
After suffering an ACL tear in the season-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, Neal missed the entire 2018 season.
Neal’s presence was significantly missed as he has become one of the Falcons’ best players on defense. Following the 2017 season in which Neal recorded 116 tackles, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interceptions.
The Falcons drafted Neal out of the University of Florida with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida.
