FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed quarterback Ben DiNucci, the team announced Monday.
In turn, the Falcons released wide receiver DJ Chark and waived/injury quarterback Emory Jones.
The Dallas Cowboys drafted DiNucci in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he appeared in three games, starting one. He completed 23 of his 43 pass attempts for 219 yards.
Since 2021, DiNucci has been a practice-squad staple, spending time with four different teams. He was most recently with the New Orleans Saints earlier this year.
Chark and Jones played in both of the Falcons' firs two preseason games. Chark didn't record any stats against the Detroit Lions but caught one of his three targets for 11 yards against the Tennessee Titans. Jones completed four of five passes for 49 yards against the Lions and two of his five passes for 16 yards against the Titans. Jones left the latest game prematurely with an undisclosed injury after what appeared to be a hard hit on his scramble.
The Falcons have their third and final preseason game on tap Friday against the Dallas Cowboys inside AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
