FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season had a little bit of everything. Top teams put together statements wins. A Super Bowl rematch ensued. Defenses took a stand across the league. And the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game captivated the afternoon crowd.
How did these games shape this week's rankings? Quite a bit, actually. Let's get into it.

The Bills did what they needed to do against the Jets. They left no doubt that they deserve the top spot in this ranking once again.
The vibes for the Ravens are similar to that of the Bills. They took care of business. If they wouldn't have had to face the No. 1 team on this list in Week 1, I truly believe they'd be a 2-0 squad.
The Packers keep getting tested but they keep passing the tests.
Another team that did what it needed to do against a lower ranked team.
Did anyone else feel like the rematch of last season's Super Bowl was even more fun in the regular season in Week 2? Just me?
Another top team doing what they needed to do against a lower-ranked opponent. We'll know more about this Rams team next week when they face the Eagles.
Baker Mayfield, man. The guy is a gamer and seems to always find a way. You can't count him out of anything.
If you read last week's Power Rankings you know that I said then that it was going to be sooner rather than later that we see the Lions get going. I imagine this qualifies as sooner.
Just because the Commanders lost to the Packers doesn't mean they aren't a top-10 team. I still believe they absolutely are.
I'm going to be real... I really can't decide how I feel about the Seahawks. Therefore, I can't say how I really feel about the Steelers loss to the Seahawks.
Look at the Colts. Skyrocketing up the rankings in the first two weeks of the season.
The Vikings are in a tough spot following a loss to Atlanta. They were shutout of the endzone and they lost J.J. McCarthy for a few weeks at least with a high ankle sprain. Minnesota could be at an early turning point in their season.
I really thought the 49ers were going to beat the brakes off the Saints. But they didn't. And I don't know if that is notable for the Saints or 49ers.
It was difficult to place the Broncos because 1) they only lost to the Colts by one, and 2) they only lost to the Colts by one.
I'd argue the Bengals are the luckiest 2-0 team in the league right now. They squeaked out a win last week. They did so again this week without Joe Burrow. They may be without Burrow for a very long time so I don't really know how long they stay where they are.
Big moves for Atlanta with a statement win over the Vikings in enemy territory. They have a chance to put the pedal to the metal with an NFC South opponent on deck with a road game in Carolina next Sunday.
Another team I am not entirely sure where to place. Have the Cardinals beaten the two teams they have played? Yes. Were they impressive wins? Not really.
The Seahawks that only put up 13 points against the 49ers in Week 1 was not the Seahawks that beat the Steelers this week. It's why I have such a hard time placing them!
The Cowboys continue to do Cowboys things. Nothing can ever be without drama. That includes their Week 2 win. But hey, I am not complaining. That was one of the most fun games Sunday.
The Chiefs haven't lost their first two games of a season in a decade. However, the Tay-Voo-Doo is real so I am not counting them out.
I did not think the Texans were going to start the season 0-2, but here we are. They need a win, soon.
I'm starting to think the preseason hype in Chicago was just that... preseason hype.
The Jaguars should have beaten the Bengals. Point blank. They had leverage. They performed well enough at times. But they did not do enough to win, which means they did not do enough to break the top-20 just yet.
Unfortunately for the Jets, the Bills are just too good right now for there to be moves made in Week 2.
Man. I really liked watching the Giants play Sunday. I already told you it was the best game of Sunday. But... like... they didn't win. So, I can't in good faith move them up too high despite the fact I think they are an interesting team.
Last week I said if the Raiders played well against the Chargers I would bump them up in the ranking. I think they did OK against the Chargers, but didn't do enough to warrant a significant jump.
This game Sunday was the Rams to lose, not the Titans to win. And that's all you really need to know about it.
I am worried about the Falcons facing a 0-2 Panthers on the road. They kind of have nothing to lose. And a team like that can be dangerous.
Hey, you gotta give it to the Saints: They're making games a bit interesting this year!
The Patriots beat the Dolphins, which I don't think says very much about their trajectory.
The Browns did what I thought the Browns would do against the Ravens.
Oh man. I didn't think the Dolphins would fall so low. But here we are...
