FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons released edge rusher Khalid Kareem on Thursday.
Kareem has appeared in just one game this season, the Falcons' Week 11 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers. He made a tackle and defensed a pass.
Atlanta originally signed Kareem to the practice squad at the start of the season. Before that Panthers game, though, the Falcons signed him to the active roster.
Kareem has been with the Falcons since 2024, when he appeared in two games and recorded four tackles.

The Cincinnati Bengals brought Kareem into the NFL with a fifth-round draft pick in 2020. He spent two seasons there before a season apiece with the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears between 2022-23.
Throughout his career, Kareem has made one start in 31 game appearances. He has totaled 35 tackles, seven quarterback hits and a sack. He has also forced and recovered a fumble and defensed a pair of passes.
This transaction comes before the Falcons' Week 13 game against the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. A corresponding move was not announced at the time, so Atlanta has one spot open on its 53-man roster.
