Falcons injury report: Atlanta offense enters Patriots game stronger, healthier; key defenders questionable

Michael Penix Jr., Drake London, Kyle Pitts not given game designation. But Jessie Bates III, Jalon Walker and Leonard Floyd show up on game report.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons did not give offensive players like QB Michael Penix Jr., WR Drake London, TE Kyle Pitts and RB Tyler Allgeier a game designation in Friday's report. Penix and London are expected to return to the lineup this Sunday against the New England Patriots after missing last Sunday's loss to Miami with their respective injuries.

In fact, the Falcons' offense enters into the Week 9 contest nearly at full strength. Only WR Casey Washington and OL Storm Norton has been ruled out. Norton is still within his 21-day window to return to the active roster after starting they year on injured reserve.

For the defensive side of the ball, the report shows a unit a bit more up in the air.

The good news is that Atlanta could see the return of rookie pass rusher Jalon Walker this weekend. Walker has been inactive with a groin injury the last two games. He was officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium. However, that's about where the good news ends. Veteran S Jessie Bates III and EDGE Leonard Floyd were both also listed as questionable, too. When asked about his intended status, Bates said Thursday he is hopeful about this weekend.

"I feel pretty good," Bates said. "We'll see how things go (Thursday) in practice. As long as there's no setbacks, I think I'll be fine."

The continued not-so-good news about the unit is that it will continue to be without nickel Billy Bowman Jr. for the fourth consecutive game and DL Zach Harrison for the second consecutive game. Though both were limited participants in Thursday's practice, they were back as non participants Friday and ultimately ruled out.
