Falcons release WR David Sills V from active roster, S Grayland Arnold from IR

Sills had a standout training camp that landed him on the initial roster in Atlanta.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons have released wide receiver David Sills V from the active roster and safety Grayland Arnold from injured reserve, the organization announced Friday afternoon.

Sills was a preseason standout for Atlanta. After starting training camp working with the second- and third-team offensive groups, Sills was running with the first-team offense by the end. He acted as Drake London's backup from time to time, while also taking some reps alongside London in a big receiver look.

Sills has been in the league since 2019, when he signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia. He spent four seasons with the New York Giants from 2019-22 and was on the active roster in 2021 and 2022. He signed with Atlanta this January after a year on the Denver Broncos' practice squad.

This is not likely to be the last time the Falcons see Sills. He is an appreciated member of the receiver room, and could be back on the practice squad or active roster once he clears waivers.

Arnold — a 2020 undrafted free agent who has spent time with the Eagles, Texans and Steelers — signed with the Falcons at the beginning of August. He was only active in practice for eight days before being placed on injured reserve with an on Aug. 10

The Falcons now have 52 men on their active roster.

Practice squad elevations for Sunday's home opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be announced Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET.
