FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- It took just one game as the Falcons' kicker for Giorgio Tavecchio to earn a special designation from the NFL, as he has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

In his regular-season debut for Atlanta, Tavecchio made all three of his field-goal attempts, including a 56-yarder that proved to be the difference in the Falcons' 23-20 win against the New York Giants on "Monday Night Football."

"It was unbelievable," Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said of Tavecchio's 56-yard field goal. "I think that kick was good from like 65 yards. I mean it was going. So he did a great job for us coming in on short notice and playing really well. The confidence that Coach Dan Quinn has in that situation to let it rip, great kick by him, great execution. I'm happy for him. I'm really happy for him. That was fun to see."
