Falcons injury report: Jake Matthews, 2 rookies listed as non-participants in practice estimate

Atlanta did not practice Wednesday. The injury report is an estimate.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons are on a short week after defeating the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. The team will travel across time zones to the west coast Saturday to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. Because of this, Atlanta did not practice Wednesday, opting instead for walkthroughs. That means the following injury report is an estimate.

The big news around the report involves the status of starting left tackle Jake Matthews, who left Monday's game at halftime with an ankle injury. Matthews has the longest start streak in Falcons history and the longest active streak in the NFL. So, his status this week will be one to monitor as he starts the week off the practice field as a estimated non-participant.

Asked about Matthews' status Tuesday, head coach Raheem Morris considered Matthews "day-to-day."

"We know who he is. We know what he doesn't miss," Morris said. "We'll just have to see, but I feel really positive about him and what happened based on not having any idea (Monday) night."

The Falcons are also monitoring the status of rookie nickel Billy Bowman Jr., who was inactive Monday with a hamstring injury. He, along with fellow rookie Jalon Walker (groin), were listed as non-participants in Wednesday's estimate.

The Falcons' full Wednesday report can be viewed below, while the 49ers' side of the weekly reports can be viewed here. San Francisco saw the return of quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) and George Kittle (hamstring) to practice this week. Receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) remains out, though, but he could see a return as well as the week progresses.
