ATLANTA — All week long the Atlanta Falcons have been monitoring wide receiver Darnell Mooney's injury status. After missing all of training camp and the preseason with a shoulder injury, head coach Raheem Morris said the Falcons would make a game-time decision on Mooney. And they did.
Mooney has been ruled out of Sunday's Week 1 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons will continue to rely on Casey Washington in Mooney's place.
In other inactives news, the Falcons had already ruled out safety DeMarcco Hellams (hamstring) and offensive lineman Jack Nelson (calf). They also used a standard practice squad elevation on wide receiver David Sills V and running back Carlos Washington Jr.
