Walker Signs Tender; Zelenka Re-Signed

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have re-signed long snapper Joe Zelenka and defensive tackle Vance Walker has signed his restricted free agent tender.

Zelenka, 6-3, 266 pounds, was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers as a college free agent in 1999. He was traded the Washington Redskins in 2000 and later signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2001. Zelenka spent eight seasons in Jacksonville before signing with the Falcons as a free agent on December 1, 2009. He has handled the long snapping duties for each of the last three seasons in Atlanta and helped K Matt Bryant connect on a franchise record 30 consecutive field goal attempts between 2010 and 2011.

Walker, 6-2, 304 pounds, was originally selected by the Falcons in the seventh round (210th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He has posted 77 tackles (55 solo) with three sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in two seasons. In 2011, Walker played in Atlanta's defensive line rotation tallying 25 tackles (17 solo) with two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
