FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons have signed cornerback Darnay Holmes.
Holmes joins the Falcons after two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, primarily as a backup corner, where he saw action in 29 games with one start. Prior to that, Holmes was selected by the New York Giants with the 110th pick in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Through four years of his rookie deal, Holmes saw action in 54 games with 11 starts. He had four interceptions through those four seasons. He saw the most game action of his career in 2022 when he played in 59% of the defensive snaps on the year.
According to Pro Football Reference, Holmes has only given up a total of three touchdowns when he was in coverage.
Darnay played college ball at UCLA and earned a reputation of being a gritty role player by then-head coach Chip Kelly.
"There is not a harder worker on our team, in terms of everything, and not just the physical part, but the mental part and his cognitive ability to diagnose what is going on, his ability to put himself in the position to make plays," Kelly said of Holmes back in 2019.
