FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The NFL suspended Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison for the first three games of the 2025 NFL season Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
Addison was suspended for violating the NFL's Substances of Abuse Policy, and he will miss Minnesota's first three regular season games, including a Week 2 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Behind top receiver Justin Jefferson, Addison has emerged as one of the league's premier No. 2 options and an ascending young player. He's an explosive receiver who has 28 receptions of at least 20 yards over the last three seasons, and his 19 receiving touchdowns in that time ranks 18th among all players.
Without Addison in the lineup, the Falcons will be able to focus more of their resources on Jefferson.
With both players on the field in Week 14 last season, the Vikings proved difficult for the Falcons to slow down. Addison led the Vikings with 133 yards and three touchdowns on eight receptions. He was followed closely by Jefferson, who had 132 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. In 2023, Atlanta faced Addison without Jefferson available for Minnesota. In that game, the Falcons held him to 52 yards on five catches.
The first four games are important ones for Atlanta ahead of an early Week 5 bye. The Vikings are never an easy out, especially in their home confines, but the absence of Addison is notable.
