FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons are set to face a Week 13 opponent who is very familiar with someone on the coaching staff.
Jeff Ulbrich's two stints in Atlanta sandwiched four seasons with the New York Jets. Ulbrich first served as the Falcons' defensive coordinator in 2020. He then held that same role with the Jets from 2021-24, with interim head-coach responsibilities added to close out his final season in New York. He, of course, ultimately rejoined the Falcons in 2025 with his normal title.
With the Falcons heading to MetLife Stadium on Sunday to play the Jets, multiple members from Atlanta's offensive side of the ball have picked Ulbrich's brain for intel on New York's defense.
"Really, the whole offensive staff has in some ways," Ulbrich said. "Schematically, it looks like they're going in a little bit different directions, so there's not a whole lots that's the same from my time there. But from a personnel standpoint, I'm sure there's some insight."
Considering Ulbrich was in New York less than a year ago at this point, there are definitely a large number of players he coached still on the Jets' roster. That means Sunday will be a reunion of sorts.
"It'll be always nice to see them," Ulbrich said. "But at the end of the day, it's the next opponent."
