FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Atlanta Falcons starting right tackle Kaleb McGary will miss time due to the apparent leg injury he sustained during practice Wednesday, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Fowler reported Thursday an exact timetable is unknown, but McGary is out of the lineup for now.

The Falcons' 2025 season opener is scheduled for Sept. 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

McGary was carted off the field Wednesday during the early portion of the Falcons' final preseason practice. A team spokesperson said afterward McGary would undergo an MRI.

Without McGary, Elijah Wilkinson took over at right tackle with the first-team offense for the remainder of practice. Wilkinson has split the Falcons' two preseason games so far at left guard and left tackle. Rookie Jack Nelson, meanwhile, has been their right tackle in the exhibition games.

The Falcons are already down their backup swing tackle, Storm Norton, who has been dealing with what head coach Raheem Morris called a lower-body injury for a significant amount of training camp. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Norton underwent ankle surgery on Tuesday and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.

Atlanta has its third and final preseason game on tap Friday, as the Falcons hit the road to face the Dallas Cowboys inside AT&T Stadium at 8 p.m. ET.

The NFL's deadline for teams to set their 53-man rosters is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
