Grimes Signs Tender

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that cornerback Brent Grimes has signed his franchise tender.

Grimes, 5-10, 183 pounds, was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Falcons in 2006. He was signed to the team's practice squad in 2007 and later elevated to the 53-man roster for the final two games of the season. In five seasons with the club, he has recorded 242 tackles (207 solo) with 13 interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 56 passes defensed.

The fifth-year pro out of Shippensburg University was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2010 after recording 82 tackles (72 solo) with five interceptions and a franchise record 23 passes defensed. Grimes earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance at Seattle (12/19/10), posting three tackles, one interception and five passes defensed. He also led the team with six interceptions in 2009.
