Falcons Sign RB Antone Smith to Extension

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed running back Antone Smith to a two-year contract extension.

Smith, 5-9, 192 pounds, was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as a college free agent on May 8, 2009. He was signed to the Falcons practice squad on October 21, 2009. In 2012, Smith saw action in 13 games, primarily on special teams. Smith collared four special teams tackles last season and helped the Falcons coverage units limit opponents to 9.3 yards per punt return and 22.2 yards per kick off return.
