FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Wide receiver Drake London had a standout game in Week 9 of the 2025 season.
The former first-round draft pick caught nine passes for 118 yards and three touchdowns. Nine receptions ranked third among his career single-game totals. It was the ninth time he has broken 100 yards. But the trio of touchdowns? First time ever. It was only the second time he has scored multiple touchdowns in 57 games since 2022.
However, none of that mattered to London.
"I don't care if I had just one catch, no catches or anything like that," London said. "It's a loss. I don't care about any personal stats or any bullshit like that."
The Atlanta Falcons lost, 24-23, to the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium last Sunday. London's team is riding a three-game losing streak into its Week 10 international matchup against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday at Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany.
While in New England, the Falcons had a troublesome first half. The offense totaled 130 yards' compared to the Patriots' 220. Atlanta picked up only 26 yards rushing, despite Falcons coaches and players alike dubbing the run game their "lifeline" throughout the Week 9 lead-up. London had 35 yards receiving at that point.
The score was 21-14, Patriots, at halftime. The sole reason it was a one-possession game is because Falcons edge rushers Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. combined for a strip sack and fumble recovery with 32 seconds remaining. That led to London's second touchdown, a 2-yard reception to cap off a quick two-play drive before heading to the locker room.
"He's going to go out there and ball out every time he steps on the field," Penix said. "He's a special player, special person. He does special things each and every week. It's exciting to see. Happy that he's on our team."
London's first touchdown was a 1-yard reception in the first quarter. Both catches required London to go up and over a Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones, who is 5-foot-8 and 188 pounds. London is 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds.
"I can honestly say his catch radius is remarkable," Jones said. "He's a great player, and he made a lot of plays."
In the second half, the Falcons added another 158 yards on offense, 45 of which were rushing. Atlanta was scoreless in the third quarter but posted a 38-yard field goal and London's final touchdown in the fourth quarter. The point-after attempt was no good, which prevented the tie and solidified the loss.
Still, London again had to go up and over a Patriots defender to secure his touchdown. This time, it was cornerback Carlton Davis III who was in between London and his an 8-yard reception. Davis is 6-foot-1 and 206 pounds.
"What (London) did today," Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said, "was come out and played with uncommon effort."
All three of London's touchdown receptions were highlight-reel worthy.
"The man above: God-given talent," London said. "I just let my body take over."
Even with that casual claim, London didn't smile once during his postgame interview. Because although he did everything he could to help the Falcons in New England, the result was what it was. Atlanta is now 3-5 and remains third in the NFC South.
Those team details dictated London's overall emotion more than his own success.
"Terrible," London said. "I do not feel good. We just lost the game."
