Atlanta Falcons hire Jeff Scott as assistant general manager

Scott joins the Falcons after spending five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons have hired Jeff Scott as their new assistant general manager.

Scott joins the Falcons after spending the last five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a senior pro scout during the 2021 season before stepping into the director of football operations role for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Before the 2024 season, Scott was promoted to vice president of football operations.

The Eagles reached the postseason in each of Scott's five seasons with the organization, including two Super Bowl appearances with a championship title in 2024. Their 59 regular season wins are the second-most in the NFL since 2021, behind only the Buffalo Bills, who have 60.

During Scott's tenure, the Eagles signed many of the players who comprised their championship roster. Running back Saquon Barkley, safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and linebacker Zack Baun were all instrumental veteran free agent acquisitions, and the trade for wide receiver A.J. Brown gave the team a top-flight No. 1 receiver for quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham also spent five seasons with the Eagles organization and overlapped with Scott during the 2021 season before joining the Chicago Bears as their assistant general manager.

"First and foremost, this is a relationship business. I want to thank Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles for granting permission to allow Jeff the opportunity to take on this role and advance his career," Cunningham said. "We are thrilled to have Jeff become a member of our team.

"While Jeff and I worked together in Philadelphia for a short period of time, I quickly realized he is a man of integrity, he has a high degree of attention to detail and discipline, while always treating everyone with respect. His values align with ours, as does his mission to help build a team that consistently competes for championships. Jeff brings a breadth of experience across all football operations and a keen eye for talent. We want to welcome Jeff, Rachel, and Alivia to Atlanta."

Scott earned his first NFL job in 2012, when he joined Washington's organization as a salary cap intern, helping with cap analysis and contracts. He quickly transitioned to a role as a scouting intern later that spring and carried that title throughout the 2012 season.

During the 2013 season, Scott was a player personnel assistant before becoming a pro scout from 2014-17.

In 2018, Scott became Washington's director of football strategy/scout and prepared advanced scouting analysis of opponents each week for the team in addition to evaluating players in free agency and the NFL Draft. During the summer of the 202o season, Scott was promoted to assistant director of pro scouting/advance coordinator, which he held until joining the Eagles.

Scott is the latest offseason personnel move by the Falcons, a list that includes the hiring of Cunningham, head coach Kevin Stefanski and president of football Matt Ryan.
