FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Former Atlanta Falcons outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter is retiring from the NFL.
Carter's current team, the Tennessee Titans, announced the news Tuesday. Carter will be placed on the league's Reserve/Retired list.
Carter played for the Falcons from 2022-24. He appeared in all but four games during that timeframe, starting 29 of the 51 possible games overall. He totaled 125 tackles, 14 of which were for a loss, with seven sacks. He also recovered three fumbles and forced two.
In addition to those statistics, Carter turned an interception into his sole career pick six during the Falcons' Week 8 overtime win against the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 30, 2022.
Carter closes out his seven-year career with 278 tackles and 21.5 sacks in 62 starts and 96 appearances. He finished with a total of five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

The New York Giants drafted Carter out of the University of Georgia with a third-round pick in 2018. His first-ever professional appearance came in the Giants' Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 9, 2018. He made one tackle and broke up one pass in his rookie debut.
During Carter's collegiate run, the Bulldogs played in four bowl games, including a national championship appearance in 2018.
