FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons have signed undrafted free agent center Michael Gonzalez, the organization announced Friday.
Gonzalez played college football at the University of Louisville and started every game at left guard for the Cardinals over the last two seasons. The Falcons have a history of cross-training players on the interior of their offensive line, and they've clearly identified Gonzalez as a prospect capable of making the transition to center.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound lineman appeared in 51 games for Louisville in his four years with the program, helping Louisville average more than 175 rushing yards per game during his last two seasons. Gonzalez is an effective pass blocker who should benefit from the time he'll have to develop under offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford.
The signing comes amidst an interesting backdrop for the Falcons. Ryan Neuzil, who first joined Atlanta in 2021 as an undrafted free agent in 2021, started eight games for the Falcons in 2024 and performed well in the role. Atlanta went 5-3 in the eight games Neuzil started and averaged 122 rushing yards and 24 points.
In a corresponding move, the Falcons have released offensive lineman Joey Fisher.
Phase 2 of the NFL's offseason program began on Monday, allowing veterans to begins on-field workouts. Organized team activities are the next step in the preparation for the 2025 season before mandatory minicamp begins on June 9.
