FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — New year. New look. Same opportunity.
Is this the tagline for this Falcons' 2025 roster, or this specific article series? You can decide. Maybe it's both — feels like both.
The process for this story series remains the same: You ask the questions (whether submitted here or tweeted at me, which is how I supplemented questions for this week's installment) and I provide the answers to the best of my ability. Simple!
I am really looking forward to diving in deeper with all of you this season. It should be an interesting one, with a lot to discuss. With Day 1 of training camp in the books, let's take a few minutes to go over some key topics of developments we saw in action. Oh, and go over some training camp need-to-knows.

Do you believe that Raheem is more prepared this year coaching? I know he mentioned he has to do better. I know it's early.
Maggie! My girl. Hope you're doing well. Flag me down if you see me at training camp this year. Would love to say hi.
Now, to your question: I do think so. With anything, you're going to be more comfortable after a year on the job vs. a few months in. This goes for Raheem Morris, Zac Robinson, heck, even Michael Penix Jr., too. I said Thursday on our podcast (which I have attached above) that the Michael Penix Jr. standing in front of me yesterday felt very different from the Michael Penix Jr. who stood in front of my in December. I think that is likely true for many of the coaches who enter their second year in Atlanta, too. It just may not be as obvious.
For Morris particularly, you're right that he made mention of his own areas of growth, saying his No. 1 learning from Year 1 to Year 2 was that he wanted to focus more on identifying problems and implementing solutions at a faster rate. I wrote about this a bit earlier this summer. But suffice to say, I don't know if we will truly know the outcome of Morris' prioritization of this part of his role as the head coach until moments of problems occur so we can judge how he handles them and if it differs from what we saw last season.
Right now, we're in the honeymoon phase. Everything is fun and fans are excited and hope springs! But we all have been football fans for too long to believe that lasts. So, how does this team — and Morris, particularly — respond when the honeymoon period is over. And honestly? I am going to flag your question and re-evaluate it in, say, Week 10. I think we will be able to better answer it at that point!

Do you think there is any chance they'll let Michael Gonzalez compete with Ryan Neuzil for the starting center spot?
Great question — *insert unknown name of person here*
I don't know if it is a matter of him competing for the starting spot. I wouldn't go that far seeing as Falcons' coaches have made it very clear the expectation is to move forward with Neuzil as the starter. I don't think a good training camp from anyone on the roster with center experience will usurp him.
I think the more accurate inquiry is whether or not Gonzalez can do enough to establish himself as Neuzil's backup. That spot is absolutely up for grabs, and who's to say Gonzalez can't be the guy? Right now, you're looking at a group of players like Gonzalez, Matthew Cindric and Jovaughn Gwyn who have center experience. Gwyn was the one who I saw taking majority of the snaps with the second team and Kirk Cousins. However, that's not to say someone like Gonzalez can't make a push through camp and the preseason games.
Though he started every game of his college career (51 in total) at right guard, a natural transition for him at the pro level could be the center position. He's someone to watch — but not for a starting role, in my opinion.

How hot is it out there Tori? Coming to training camp Saturday and Sunday for the 1st time ever. I can't wait!
Anthony! This is great news. I think you're going to have a great time. Make sure to get there early so you can get a good spot on the hill — oh, and bring a folding chair or blanket if you can. Gates will probably open around 8:30 a.m.
As for how hot it is, fortunately the morning practices are much more bearable. In fact, if there is cloud coverage (like there was Thursday), it is actually pretty pleasant. Still, bring water. Maybe drink a Liquid IV on your way in. Wear a hat. Bring sunglasses. And if you have binoculars, bring those, too!
I believe the high on Saturday and Sunday will be the low 90s, but during the practice window, you're probably looking at mid-80s. But you know that Georgia humidity can get you. So, just make sure you have water reserves. Can't have anyone getting dehydrated.
That would be my advice. Hopefully you get some 1-on-1s this weekend, too, because that's when things really come alive in camp! See you there!
Oh, and for those interested: Tickets for training camp are free and still on sale for later dates next week. You can claim tickets here.
