Ryan up for PULSE Award

Quarterback Matt Ryan is one of five players nominated for a PULSE Award in the category of emerging player.

Fans can vote for Ryan up to five times per day by going to www.pulseawards.com.

The emerging player award, "recognizes a player that has demonstrated a combination of great performance, character and maturity on and off the field, which has distinguished him as a 'rising star' of the next generation of football greats," a description of the award on the site reads.

The PULSE Awards event will take place Feb. 3, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas. Fans can also vote for comeback player and heart of the game categories, although Ryan is the only Falcons player represented in the voting.

The PULSE Awards are held by NFL Players, which is the licensing and marketing subsidiary of the NFL Players Association. PULSE stands for Performance, Union, Leadership, Service and Excellence.
