Providing a Touch of Home

The Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders are racking up the frequent flyer miles. The entire team spent a few days in Bermuda two weeks ago for their 2011-12 Swimsuit Calendar photo shoot, and now a small group of them is heading to Curacao today for a tour of visiting members of the military.

Cheerleaders Shamea M., Alicia D., Sabrina C. and AtlantaFalcons.com cheer correspondent Sara D. (Sara and Sabrina are pictured above) are leaving today for Curacao — an island country off the coast of Venezuela — for five days of festivities with military members and their families.

The purpose of the trip is to spend quality time with men and women in uniform who need a touch of home while so far away from their loved ones.

"Visiting the military personnel in Curacao means a lot to Alicia, Sabrina, Shamea and I on so many levels," Sara D. said. "We feel so fortunate to provide a piece of home to those stationed on the island. The US Military does so much to protect us here at home, and we are humbled to be able to give back in this way."

The cheerleaders on the trip will be extremely busy during the tour, and Sara D. is kind enough to be sending us some video from the whole experience, so keep an eye out for that in the coming days here on AtlantaFalcons.com.
