The Sporting News today has announced that Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey has been named Coordinator of the Year. Mularkey will be featured in the latest issue of the Sporting News, along with the magazine's other award winners for the 2010 NFL regular season.

Mularkey led an offensive unit that ranked fifth in the NFL in scoring, averaging 25.9 points per game. Under his direction, the Falcons' offense ranked third in the league in time of possession and second in the NFC in third down conversions. Additionally, QB Matt Ryan has developed into one of the league's premiere signal callers leading the Falcons to six come-from-behind wins in the fourth quarter or overtime.

"Mike has done a great job with our offense over his three seasons with us," said head coach Mike Smith. "I am very happy for Mike to be named Coordinator of the Year. He is one of the best in the business."

Sporting News surveyed 617 NFL players, coaches and executives to determine the award winners. The magazine's Executive of the Year award will be announced in the Feb. 14 issue.
