Matt Bryant A Solid Option In Fantasy Football

Fantasy owners may worry very little about kickers, but for those that want to win, an edge is found anywhere.

By way of a potential high-scoring offense by the Falcons, kicker Matt Bryant may benefit some lucky owner. Sure, he's not going to score Julio Jones kind of fantasy points, but in the pool of available kickers, Bryant can be a very good choice.

Bryant's as reliable as they come. He didn't miss a point-after attempt during last season; in fact, he hasn't missed one since 2008 when he missed one. Of his 284 point-after attempts in his career, he's only missed four times.

Even if the Falcons aren't scoring touchdowns on every drive, the offense looks capable of moving the ball down the field, resulting in field goal opportunities for Bryant. Last season he connected on 27 of his 29 field goal attempts, including 14 straight. His 93.1 percentage on field goals was the best in the NFL in 2011.

Since joining the Falcons in 2009, his 88.6 field goal percentage ranks second in the league.

NFL.com ranks Bryant as the 13th-best kicker available in fantasy, which means he likely won't cost an owner a pick in rounds where kickers may be selected.
