HS Team of the Week Nominees: September 19

The Atlanta Falcons and The Georgia Army National Guard are proud to recognize the following high school football program nominees for the week of September 3, 2011. The stories below reflect the character, integrity and strength of some of Georgia's best high school football programs. The Atlanta Falcons and Georgia Army National Guard are honored to share these stories, as they embody the core values of both organizations.

For each of the five Georgia High School Football classifications, fans are encouraged to read the submissions and vote for the team you believe should win. Voting is open through 5 pm ET on Fridays, and winners will be announced each Saturday at atlantafalcons.com/nationalguard.

WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 19

CLASS AAAAA


Wheeler County Bulldogs, Alamo, GA
Despite suffering key injuries and having a smaller numbers of kids in the high school compared to most of their opponents, the Bulldogs have remained very competitive due to work ethic and motivation..

Lasiter Trojans, Marietta, GA
Lassiter has outstanding leadership on and off the field. They perform 100 percent week in and week out as they overcome adversity.

Richmond Hill Wildcats, Richmond Hill, GA
Richmond Hill High's football record has been dismal. Despite losing seasons, the players have continued to sign up, practice with fervor, and play to the best of their abilities. Never was there an attitude on the team of giving up or admitting that RHHS was a team that couldn't win. The spirt of the team, through their stick-to-it attitude, is contagious.

Miller Grove Wolverines, Lithonia, GA
The Wolverines exhibit great team work.

Cass Colonels, White, GA
This team has maintained a positive attitude and come together, despite an 0-3 start. They are looking forward to the rest of the season, with great optimism and improvement on thier minds.

Columbus Blue Devils, Columbus, GA
The Columbus High School Blue Devils embody the spirit of the National Guard. They continue to fight each week and never give up. They face adversity on the field with strength, honor, and integrity.

Druid Hills Red Devils, Atlanta, GA
All of the sports teams achieve success both in academics as well as sports.

Savannah Country Day Hornets, Savannah, GA
They are responsible for promoting a sense of honesty and integrity within their school and community by setting an example for others to fully support the honor code..

Sonoraville Phoenix, Calhoun, GA
The football team does various projects throughout the year. Some of those projects include: setting up for the prom mock car crash, working with the middle school football team, helping the band boosters and band, and moving various items for the school system when shipments come in. In 2009, the whole team helped the Sonoraville Elementary teacher's move all of their furniture and teacher belongings into their new school building. This project was completed over a two day period.

Dawson County Tigers, Dawsonville, GA
As a school with only 942 students grades 9-12 DCHS works hard for all its accomplishments and have the "can do" attitude.

South East Bulloch Yello Jackets, Brooklet, GA
They assited after storms to reconstruct there track and football field.

Charlton County Indians, Polkston, GA
The community rallies around the team for support and the team, in turn, supports the community through various efforts. Whether it is a car wash, community trash pick up, or mentoring younger players, this team stands by the community that stands by them.

Bryan County Redskins , Pembroke, GA
Reguarly support amvets and wounded warriors of the 3rd ID.
