Game Notebook: Falcons at Packers

  • WR Julio Jones had a record breaking performance on Monday Night Football, setting a franchise record with 259 receiving yards on 11 catches. He topped WR Roddy White's mark of 210 yards set at San Francisco in 2009.
  • Jones 259-yard outburst was the best performance by any receiver in the NFL this season, besting Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins who posted 238 yards in a game against the Tennessee Titans earlier this season. Jones' 259 yards were the most by a receiver in a single game since Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon posted 261 yards on 14 catches in December of last season. 
  • Jones added his sixth touchdown catch of the season, hauling in a 22-yard pass from QB Matt Ryan. After suffering through a seven-game drought, Jones has caught a touchdown pass in three straight games and has more than 180 receiving yards in back-to-back games.
  • Jones became the first player with consecutive 175 yard receiving games since Gordon accomplished that feat in Weeks 12 and 13 last season. 
  • The fourth-year wide out from Alabama posted one of the most impressive performances in the history of Monday Night Football. According to *STATS LLC, *Jones 259 yards were the most by a receiver on Monday night since Jerry Rice logged 289 yards in 1995.
  • Jones also set a franchise record for single season receiving yards, running his 2014 total to an NFL leading 1,428 yards in just 13 games. He broke WR Roddy White's previous record of 1,389 yards set in 2010. Jones also leads the NFC with 93 receptions on the season.
  • In four career Monday Night games, Jones has caught 31 passes for 500 yards with two touchdowns. He is averaging 16.1 yards per catch and 125 yards per game in those contests.
  • In addition to his record breaking performance, Jones also eclipsed 4,000 career receiving yards in just 47 games. He has totaled 4,165 yards on 267 receptions and is averaging 15.6 yards per catch and 88.6 yards per game for his career.
  • Jones caught five passes for 100 yards (20 yards per reception) in the first half on Monday night. He has posted 100 yards receiving in the first half in back-to-back games after catching eight passes for 132 yards last week. He has accomplished that feat five times in his career, including three games this season.
  • Ryan completed 24 of 39 pass attempts for 375 yards, tying a career high with four touchdown passes, while posting a 116.9 passer rating. Atlanta has lost just four times when Ryan has a passer rating above 100. The Falcons also suffered their third loss with Ryan under center when he throws three-or-more touchdown passes.
  • Ryan has thrown at least one touchdown to 11 different receivers and has thrown for a score in 18 straight games dating back to 2013. Monday marked Ryan's 55th career multi-touchdown game 28th game with 300-plus passing yards.
  • After surrendering a touchdown on Green Bay's first possession, Atlanta responded with a nine-play, 72-yard drive that culminated in a four-yard RB Steven Jackson touchdown run. Jackson has scored one rushing touchdown in six straight games on Monday Night Football.
  • Jackson has scored six times on the ground this season, giving him 12 rushing touchdowns since joining the Falcons in 2013. He has run for at least six touchdowns in six seasons during his career. Jackson finished the game with 50 yards on 16 carries, giving him 652 yards this season.
  • WR Roddy White caught three passes for 42 yards, including a pair of first down receptions and a one-yard touchdown that pulled the Falcons to within 10 points in the fourth quarter. White has caught at least one pass in 123 straight games.
  • White tied RB Michael Turner for the franchise lead with his 61st career touchdown. White is the club's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns while Turner scored 61 total TDs (60 rushing & one receiving) from 2008 to 2012.
  • White's one-yard touchdown catch was his sixth score of the season, giving him seven seasons with at least six touchdown catches in his career.
  • White has scored five touchdowns in his last seven games against the Packers, including playoffs, and has caught a touchdown in six of his last eight games on Monday Night Football.
  • In his last five games on Monday Night Football, White has 38 catches, 457 yards, (91.4 yards per game) and three touchdowns.
  • WR Harry Douglas tied a career-high with his second touchdown catch of the season when he pulled down a two-yard pass from Ryan to cut the Packers lead to just six with 2:11 remaining in the game.
  • WR Eric Weems caught his first touchdown pass of the season on a five-yard toss from Ryan on Atlanta's opening drive of the second half. Weems' score was the third of his career and his first since 2009.
  • Weems, who rejoined the Falcons this season after two years with the Chicago Bears, was a Pro Bowl selection in 2010 after ranking third in the NFL in kickoff return average and posting both one kickoff return touchdown, and one punt return touchdown while adding 16 special teams tackles.
  • S Dwight Lowery led the Falcons defensive effort with 13 total tackles (11 solo). CB Desmond Trufant continued his strong late season surge, logging five tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass defense. Trufant leads the Falcons with 14 passes defensed this season.
  • DE Kroy Biermann notched his 20th career sack when he brought down QB Aaron Rodgers for a four-yard loss in the first quarter. Biermann has 3.5 sacks this season all coming in the last five games.
