Falcons Place DE Derrick Shelby on IR

Today the Falcons have promoted safety Sharrod Neasman to the active roster, while placing defensive end Derrick Shelby on injured reserve (achillies).

Neasman joined the Falcons as a college free agent following the draft out of Florida Atlantic. He was a team captain as a senior in 2015 for the Owls, and he was also named the team's 2015 Student-Athlete of the Year. Neasman has spent the first six weeks of the season as a member of the Falcons practice squad.

Shelby was signed this offseason by the Falcons and was a solid contributor to the Falcons defense. In the first six games of the season, he recorded eight total tackles, two tackles for loss, two hits on the quarterback, and one pass deflection.
