Falcons Make Moves in Scouting Department

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have promoted Marvin Allen to National Scout.

Allen spent the last four seasons with the Falcons as the Eastern Regional Scout. He spent 16 seasons with the New England Patriots, including his last 12 in the player personnel department as an Area Scout. He was responsible for the collection of data on all prospects in his assigned region. Allen is a graduate of Tulane University and was selected by the Patriots in the 11th round (294th overall) of the 1988 NFL Draft. In four seasons with New England, he rushed for 378 yards and two touchdowns on 94 carries (4.0 avg.).

As a National Scout, Allen's responsibilities will include scouting the top prospects in college football from coast to coast as well as assisting Director of Player Personnel Lionel Vital with special projects.

The Falcons have also announced that they have promoted Mike Potts and Sae Woon Jo to area scouts. As area scouts, Potts and Jo will be responsible for scouting players in specific area of the country. Both Potts and Jo served as scouting assistants in 2012 where their duties included day-to-day operations of the scouting department, draft board preparations, evaluations of college and pro players, and coordinating college and pro workouts, and visits.
