With a 10-7 victory over the New York Jets, the Falcons improve their record to 2-1 against AFC East Division opponents this season. Atlanta has won four of the last five meetings against the Jets and five of the last seven contests against the Jets and New York Giants at the Meadowlands since 1998. * Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan made his first start in two games after returning from a toe injury to complete 16 of 34 passes for 152 yards. On a fourth down play in the fourth quarter with 1:42 remaining in the game Ryan hit tight end Tony Gonzalez in the end zone for a six-yard touchdown which proved to be the game winner. * Tight end Tony Gonzalez finished the game with three receptions for 32 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Gonzalez's score was the 82nd of his career, which continues to lead all tight ends in NFL history. * Defensive end John Abraham posted his first career sack against his old team in the second quarter. The veteran lineman has now totaled 4.5 sacks this season and 88.0 for his career. * Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud intercepted his third pass of the season when he picked off Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez on New York's opening offensive possession of the game. The interception led to Falcons field goal. * Cornerback Brent Grimes added Atlanta's second and third interceptions of the game when he picked off Sanchez in the second quarter and fourth quarter. Grimes now has a team-leading four interceptions on the year. * Defensive tackle Thomas Johnson posted Atlanta's first sack of the game when he dropped Mark Sanchez for a four-yard loss in the second quarter. Johnson now has 2.0 sacks this season. * Defensive end Chauncey Davis blocked a fourth quarter field goal attempt, giving the Falcons the ball at the 27-yard line with 4:27 remaining in the contest. The ensuing drive proved to be the game-winner for Atlanta. * Running back Jerious Norwood took a fourth quarter reception 38 yards into Jets territory. The 38-yard reception was the longest this season for the veteran running back and the third-longest catch of his career. * Running back Jason Snelling took a pitch-out ten yards to convert a first down on Atlanta's second offensive possession of the game. The first down conversion broke a streak of 25 consecutive third down holds for the Jets defense. * With his first catch of the game in the first quarter, tight end Tony Gonzalez improved his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 145. Entering Sunday's game, Gonzalez's streak ranked third in the NFL. * Kicker Matt Bryant logged his lone field goal of the game from 24 yards in the first quarter, giving the Falcons a 3-0 lead. In three games with Atlanta, Bryant has converted four of five field goal attempts.
