Running back Jason Snelling found the end zone for Atlanta's first touchdown of the game on a seven-yard rush in the second quarter, giving the Falcons a 7-3 lead. He added his second rushing TD of the game on Atlanta's first offensive possession of the third quarter, marking the first multiple-touchdown game of Snelling's career. He now has four touchdowns on the season (three rushing and one receiving). * Running back Jason Snelling set a new single-game career-high with 25 carries for 76 yards and a long rush of 13 yards. * Down two scores with 12:08 remaining in the first quarter, quarterback Matt Ryan led the Falcons on two scoring drives to tie the game and take it into overtime. Ryan's first TD of the fourth quarter came on a four-yard strike to wide receiver Eric Weems in the end zone. Then with 28 seconds remaining in the game, Ryan found tight end Tony Gonzalez for an 11-yard score to tie the game at 31-31. * In the second half against the Giants, quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Falcons to overtime. His 217 yards marked his highest career second half passing total in his two NFL seasons thus far. * Tight end Tony Gonzalez finished the contest with eight receptions for 82 yards and one touchdown. His receptions and yards are both single-game highs as a member of the Falcons and his TD is the 81st of his career, which leads the NFL among all tight ends. * Wide receiver Roddy White moved into fifth place on the Falcons all-time receiving yardage list with a seven-yard reception in the second quarter. He topped Michael Haynes (4,220 yards) who competed with the team from 1988-97. White finished the game with four catches for 45 yards. * Linebacker Stephen Nicholas dropped Giants quarterback Eli Manning on New York's first offensive possession of the game and forced a fumble on the play. The sack led to a Falcons interception two plays later. The sack for Nicholas is his third of the season which is a career-high. * Falcons cornerback Brent Grimes intercepted his second pass of the season and third of his career on New York's first offensive possession of the game. He returned the ball nine yards into Giants territory. * With his first reception of the game in the first quarter, tight end Tony Gonzalez improved his consecutive games with a catch streak to 141. Entering the game, the streak ranked third in the NFL behind Hines Ward of Pittsburgh and Torry Holt of Jacksonville. * Falcons kicker Jason Elam tacked on his lone field goal of the day on a 25-yard attempt to cut the Giants lead to 24-17. The field goal marked his 35th consecutive successful kick from 20-29 yards. Elam finished the game with seven points.
