Falcons Defense Controls Ravens First Team in First Quarter

Featuring mostly starters for Atlanta against Baltimore's first-team offense, the Falcons defense didn't just hold the Ravens out of the endzone, they kept them from moving the ball almost at all.

Atlanta limited Baltimore to nine total yards on offense, four yards rushing and five yards passing. Ravens QB Joe Flacco was one-for-six on the evening passing and was sacked once by defensive end Kroy Biermann.

After a tough season in 2011 on third down, the Falcons have a renewed focus on the money down this season. In three opportunities in the first quarter, the Falcons didn't allow a first down to the Ravens. Brent Grimes led the team in the first quarter with two tackles.
