With a win over Chicago, the Falcons improved their record to 3-0 at home this season and 10-1 since Mike Smith took over as Head Coach in 2008. Atlanta also ranks third in consecutive home game victories with six. * Atlanta scored its first touchdown of the game in the second quarter when quarterback Matt Ryan found wide receiver Roddy White for a 40-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7. The touchdown marked White's fifth time in his career that he recorded touchdown receptions in back-to-back contests. * The touchdown strike to Roddy White in the second quarter marked the 10th pass of 40 yards or more for quarterback Matt Ryan in his two seasons with the Falcons and the sixth of which that went for a touchdown. * Atlanta added its second touchdown of the game with four seconds remaining in the fourth quarter when Matt Ryan hit Tony Gonzalez for a 10-yard score. The touchdown for Gonzalez is the 79th of his career, which remains an NFL record for all tight ends. * With his second touchdown pass in the second quarter, Matt Ryan solidified his ninth-career multiple-touchdown game and his fourth this season. * The Falcons offensive line did not allow a sack of quarterback Matt Ryan for the fourth consecutive game. * Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud intercepted his first and second career passes Sunday night against Chicago. The first came on the Bears opening offensive possession, stalling a potential scoring drive, while the second-year veteran picked off his second pass in the second quarter Through five games this season, Atlanta has total five interceptions. * Thomas DeCoud's multiple interception game is the first for the Falcons since cornerback DeAngelo Hall intercepted two passes against Tampa Bay on September 17, 2006. * Falcons DT Jonathan Babineaux and LB Coy Wire combined to make a game-changing play with 1:11 remaining in the third quarter. With the ball on the one-yard line, Babineaux laid a jarring hit on Bears running back Matt Forte who fumbled. The ball was then recovered by Wire leaving the Bears with no points. The forced fumble was the first for Babineaux this season and the fourth of his career while Wire logged his first career fumble recovery. * Falcons linebacker Mike Peterson registered his first sack in a Falcons uniform and the 20.5 of his career. The sack led to a Bears punt. * The Falcons added their second sack of the game on a split from DT Jonathan Babineaux and DE John Abraham. The half sack brought Abraham's career total to 87.5. * For the second occasion this season, the Falcons defense held their opponent scoreless in the first quarter of play (last, Week 1 vs. Miami). Through five games this season, the Falcons have only allowed 13 first quarter points. * The Falcons defense allowed only 21 Chicago first half rushing yards, the lowest total for an Atlanta opponent in any half through five games this season. * With his first catch of the contest in the second quarter, tight end Tony Gonzalez improved his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 136, which is the third longest streak currently in the League.
