Falcons Announce Back to Football 5K

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they are partnering with the Atlanta Track Club as part of their continued effort to promote health and fitness in the Atlanta community. The organizations will host the Back to Football Run 5K and Play 60 Fun Run on Saturday, September 14 at 8:00 a.m. at the Georgia Dome.

"We are happy to partner with the Atlanta Track Club in this League wide initiative," said Jim Smith, Falcons senior vice president of sales and marketing. "We encourage and support health and wellness and are excited to give runners throughout Georgia an opportunity to participate in the Falcons Back to Football run."

The partnership between the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Track Club is a natural fit given both organizations' commitment to the community and volunteerism, as well as fighting childhood obesity by teaching youth the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle. Atlanta Track Club's Kilometer Kids youth running program and the NFL Play 60 programs aim to reach young people through schools in the Atlanta community, sporting events and online tools.

"Promoting health and fitness in the Atlanta community is one of Atlanta Track Club's top priorities, and we are thrilled to team up with the Atlanta Falcons to do just that through the Back to Football Run 5K and Play 60 Fun Run," said Sue Payne, Atlanta Track Club interim executive director. "This event promises to be fun and exciting for participants, especially Atlanta Falcons fans."

The Back to Football Run 5K is a run/walk for ages eight and older, while those ages seven and under can participate in the Play 60 Fun Run, a 100 yard dash. The Back to Football Run will start outside of the Georgia Dome and finish on the field's 50 yard line. The Play 60 Fun Run will be held on the field.

Afterwards, participants can celebrate their accomplishment at State Farm Falcons Landing, located between the Georgia Dome and Philips Arena. Activities include interactive games, giveaways and appearances by Freddie Falcon and the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders. All participants will receive a commemorative shirt from the event.

Registration for the Back to Football Run 5K and Play 60 Fun Run is open through Wednesday, September 11 at 8:59 p.m. Participants can register by visiting atlantatrackclub.org. For more information visit http://www.atlantafalcons.com/community/back-to-football-5k.html.
