The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have promoted Dave Caldwell to Director of Player Personnel and DeJuan Polk to Director of Pro Scouting.

"We are pleased to announce the promotions of Dave and DeJuan," said general manager Thomas Dimitroff. "Both Dave and DeJuan have been vital to our personnel department and have been tremendous assets to our organization. They have been essential in helping construct our team over the last four seasons. Dave has provided great leadership to our college scouting department and has been instrumental in our draft process. DeJuan started in college scouting, but has been a reliable member of our pro scouting department the last four years and has played a significant role in our evaluation of players."

Caldwell has spent the last four seasons as the Falcons' Director of College Scouting, overseeing Atlanta's college area and regional scouts. He also assimilates the information he receives and presents it to General Manager Thomas Dimitroff with a goal to make the NFL Draft as effective as possible. Caldwell is also responsible for scouting the top talent in the country. Prior to his arrival in Atlanta in 2008, Caldwell worked as an area and regional scout for the Indianapolis Colts. Caldwell helped the Falcons scout current starters such as WR Julio Jones, LB Sean Weatherspoon, DT Corey Peters, S William Moore and OL Joe Hawley.

Polk has spent the last six seasons in the Falcons scouting department. He served as a pro scout for the last four years and was responsible for scouting all professional leagues, including 15 NFL teams and advance scouting. Polk also served as a College Scout for the Falcons from 2007-08, covering the Midwest Region and conferences such as the Big Ten and MAC. He began his career as a pro personnel assistant in 2006.
