FLOWERY BRANCH, GA — While the team gets ready to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday in its first preseason game of the year, the Falcons' staff is hard at work to make sure everything from equipment to fan experience is up to snuff.

Hamzah Ahmad, event marketing coordinator for the Falcons, will be splitting time between the Flowery Branch office and holding practices — yes, practices — at the Georgia Dome this week.

The Falcons' cheerleaders will be going through the Dome tonight in preparation for Friday. Thursday night, Ahmad and his staff will be at the Dome going through a script that includes everything from on-field features to video elements and the timing of it all.

"We do two rehearsals for the first game and then we have a quick turnaround but we're still going to do another rehearsal on Wednesday night prior to the New England game," Ahmad said. "There's not a whole lot of time in between to fix some of the major issues, but we'll be able to clean up a lot of the smaller pieces."

Fans can expect some new things this year as far as game entertainment, as well as a familiar face. Ahmad said DJ Cowboy will be back thanks to an initiative to enhance the game day experience for fans.

A reminder, however, that Falcons Landing will not be open during the preseason. There will, however, be tailgating teams traveling to the various parking lots around the Dome giving away prizes.
