Soliai Placed on IR, Tialavea Promoted to 53-Man

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have promoted tight end D.J. Tialavea to the 53-man roster, and they have placed nose tackle Paul Soliai on injured reserve.

Tialavea, 6-4, 260 pounds, was originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a college free agent out of Utah State in 2014. He was also a member of the Buffalo Bills practice squad last season. Tialavea spent time with the Falcons during training camp and the preseason, and he has been a member of the practice squad since Week 12.

Soliai, 6-4, 345 pounds, was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft out of Utah. He was signed by the Falcons as a free agent during the 2014 offseason. Soliai has played in 14 games this year for the Falcons, logging 22 total tackles – 17 solo – and one fumble recovery.
